Yona

Yona

Chef Jonah Kim is a thoughtful and calming presence. The name of his Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant comes from the translation of his name into both Japanese (ヨナ) and Korean (요나). We were beyond thrilled when he agreed to go with whales as a tongue-in-cheek biblical reference.

Swiftly on the heels of Yona’s opening, Chef Jonah Kim and his team were recruited to compete in Cochon 555, a traveling competition that pits top chefs of major cities against each other in a heritage pig cooking competition. This is how I found myself disguising whales as pigs.
